See Mail Version 1.4
■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
Notes:
The following is not noted in the manual:
1) You cannot use background MCI Mail with Windows 3.1 as Microsoft has
removed this capability. Instead, use the See Mail AutoPoll menu option.
For Windows 3.0 you must load the MCIMAIL access program resident as
a TSR - BEFORE you start Windows, if you want to use background MCI Mail.
The internal mail works fine from within all versions of Windows.
2) Foriegn language menus - the main menu files in english are :
sm-mnadv.cfg - advanced menu master
sm-mnstd.cfg - standard menu master
sm-stmsg.cfg - main messages used as standard.
sm-exmsg.cfg - messages used with extended features only.
The following files correspond
German - sm-gradv.cfg and sm-grstd.cfg - Menus
German - sm-stger.cfg and sm-exger.cfg - Messages
French - sm-fnadv.cfg and sm-fnstd.cfg - Menus
French - sm-stfrn.cfg and sm-exfrn.cfg - Messages
If you replace the sm-mn*.cfg files with the language menus, and then run
the 'Setup', 'Change Mode' process from within See Mail, the menus will be
changed over (this will change the file called sm-menu.cfg).
Replace the sm-stmsg.cfg and sm-exmsg.cfg files with the matching language
file for all sub-menus and dialogues.
You will find two files - FRENCH.EXE and GERMAN.EXE that contain the files
noted above.
3) Choice lists for databank entry fields.
You can now associate a choice list file with a field on a screen.
For instance you may attach a list to the STATE field showing all the valid
state abbreviations for a user to select one.
To do this you must first create a file in the same format as either
SEE-MAIL.ACT or the example STATES.ACT file.
Then using either the See-mail editor, or the EDIT function from within the
SCRDEF program add a line to SEE-MAIL.SCR (or the .SCR for the databank) thus:
field_act("Province_state","states.act")
-- Field Name --,--- File ---
Do NOT add a path to the filename - See Mail will automatically search for
the file either in the main program directory, or in the Mail directory.
If you are sharing databanks across a network, your new .SCR and .ACT file
should be located with the shared version of the See-mail.exe, else locate
the files in your mail directory.
